We invite all parties, who have understanding on laws and public services, to evaluate the Social Affairs Minister’s Regulation
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Social Affairs Ministry, along with several institutions, is reviewing the regulations on organizing the Donated Funds and Goods Collection (PUB) to resolve licensing issues impacting several philanthropic institutions.

Social Affairs Minister Tri Rismaharini stated here on Thursday that a team is currently being formed to review the regulation issued by the ministry.

In addition to the ministry, the team comprises members from the Attorney General's Office (AGO), the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), the National Police’s Criminal Investigation Department (Bareskrim), Development and Finance Comptroller (BPKP), Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK), as well as the Law and Human Rights Ministry.

It is planned to also involve members from the Communication and Informatics Ministry in the team.

"We have discussed the regulations that have been issued by the Social Affairs Ministry, both regarding the PUB gathering permits and social assistance. Now, the second (topic of our discussion) is regarding how to supervise the two issues well," the minister stated.

She expects the review to be completed in August 2022.

Rismaharini said that it was proposed to review Law Number 9 of 1961 on the PUB during her party’s coordinating meeting with PPATK and law enforcement officials on Thursday morning.

The step is a follow-up to PPATK's findings regarding 176 problematic philanthropic institutions, including the Aksi Cepat Tanggap (ACT) Foundation, whose case was investigated by the National Police’s Bareskrim.

In addition, Rismaharini urged the team to evaluate Social Affairs Minister’s Regulation Number 8 of 2021 on Organizing the PUB.

"We invite all parties, who have an understanding on laws and public services, to evaluate the social affairs minister’s regulation,” she remarked.

On the same occasion, Deputy Attorney General for Civil and State Administration Affairs at the AGO, Feri Wibisono, recommended that joint supervision be conducted on the PUB on account of the fact that a large number of entities had violated the regulation.

He noted that joint supervision can simultaneously monitor the use of PUB permits granted by the Social Affairs Ministry.
