Jakarta (ANTARA) - The family of the late Dewi Wikantini, a midwife who received a mark of homage from President Joko Widodo (Jokowi), has expressed the hope that the government will always provide maximum protection to health workers.



Wikantini, who died on duty during the COVID-19 pandemic, was bestowed the Bintang Jasa Nararya honor for her services as a midwife.



"She was very excited to complete her duties as part of the Depok city COVID-19 task force, to carry out various activities related to preventing and handling COVID-19," Trisna Setiawan, a representative of Wikantini's family, said here on Friday.

She expressed gratitude to the government for the attention and appreciation it has accorded to health workers battling COVID-19.



"I see that the health workers who are in the health centers, who are often called the frontline fighters, hopefully, they can get maximum protection, which means that every time they serve in the field, protections are really prepared for them, so that there will be no more health workers dying of COVID-19," she said.



On the 77th anniversary of Indonesia’s Independence on August 17, 2022, it is hoped that all Indonesians can be healthier, recover faster, and live stronger, she remarked.



Meanwhile, Titi Surtinastiti, the daughter of Ajip Rosidi, a litterateur who was awarded the Bintang Mahaputera Pratama, said the honor would hopefully serve as an encouragement to continue her father's ambition.

"With this, we can carry out my father's legacy, which is a huge work, " Surtinastiti remarked.



She said that for her, the Independence Day commemoration is a reminder to make the nation more advanced and sovereign.



On Friday, President Widodo bestowed the Bintang Mahaputera Pratama, Bintang Budaya Parama Dharma, and Bintang Jasa honors to 127 figures during a ceremony held at the State Palace in Jakarta.
