Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Jakarta Tourism and Creative Economy Office officially opened the 2022 Pop Art Jakarta art exhibition at Senayan Park, here on Friday.

Acting Head of the Jakarta Tourism and Creative Economy Office, Gumilar Ekalaya, said that the exhibition will serve as a form of government support for local intellectual property (IP) creators by showcasing their works to the public.

"The Tourism and Creative Economy Office supports local IPs, thus, we continue to encourage local IPs to exist not nationally but internationally, because we know that IP can develop into books, movies, merchandise," Ekalaya remarked at the opening of Pop Art Jakarta 2022.

Themed “Collecting Moments and Happiness,” the exhibition is showcasing installations that combine interactive works with locals' intellectual property products.

IP artists who have joined the event are Bumilangit, Satria Dewa Gatotkaca; INFIA’s Hai Dudu, Dalang Pelo, Vernalta, and Maple Haven; and Pionicon’s Si Juki, Kalawira, and Tuti and Friends, Faktap, Mice Cartoon, Lokapala, Oramon, Galeo Anak Segara, and Yang Terdalam (YTD).

The event is also seeking to bring IP creators together with their audiences by combining digital marketing and quality installations.

Pop Art Jakarta 2022 is being held under a collaboration between the Jakarta Tourism and Creative Economy Office and the Indonesian Creative IP Association (AIPI) and Katapel.id.

AIPI chairman Erlan Arisandi Prabowo said the success of the event last year made him believe that the public is enthusiastic to see the works of local IP owners.

"The hope is that this can (serve as a) bridge between IP owners and their market players, and from other industries and the general public," Prabowo added.

At Pop Art Jakarta 2022, which is being held from August 12 to September 4, 2022, visitors are allowed to take pictures of works presented by local IP creators and participate in activities at available art installations.
