The jetty port's construction is expected to support the development of the Indonesian Kalimantan Industrial Estate (KIKI) and the Indonesian Kalimantan Industrial Park (KIPI) in North Kalimantan, both of which are national strategic projects.

“The Environmental Impact Analysis has been conducted. Other requirements have been met, and are currently in the finalization stage," Sumadi said in a statement received here on Friday.
"I have spoken with the governor, head of the district, head of the regional police force, so that the analysis process is pursued carefully. We want this port to be built on basis of good discussion, so that later on it will also have a good impact," he added.
He also commended regional governments and all stakeholders who have supported the development of industrial estates, which are projected to become eco-friendly, green industrial areas that prioritize sustainable principles.
"We urge the regional government, the private sector, and related stakeholders to also take the social aspect into consideration by garnering participation from the surrounding community in development as a form of concern for the fishermen and surrounding communities who are affected and have to move places," Sumadi added.
The government is participating in the development of the area under the business-to-business (B2B) or non-state budget scheme to support efforts to provide licensing and incentives, in accordance with existing regulations, so that the development of the industrial area draws investors.
The Transportation Ministry has committed to supporting smooth transportation connectivity. After the permit process is concluded, the construction of the jetty will kick off, and is targeted to be completed by the end of 2022.
The Indonesian Kalimantan Industrial Estate was built on an area of 4,704 hectares, while the Kalimantan Industrial Park Indonesia spans 24,782 hectares.
Public ports (general cargo, dry bulk, liquid bulk), special terminals (aluminum), and special petrochemical terminals (dry bulk, liquid bulk, containers) are planned to be built in these industrial areas.
The development of these areas is a manifestation of the government's efforts to transform the economy by shifting from producing raw materials to producing semi-finished and finished goods.
This is expected to boost the economy, bring in investment, and create jobs.
