This investment in human resources is one of the keys to realizing an advanced Indonesia
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Women's Empowerment and Child Protection Minister Bintang Puspayoga highlighted the importance of positive parenting and education to be imparted to children to support their optimal growth and development.

"We know the quality of children's growth is determined by the environment in which they grow up. The role of parents, as the first and main caregivers, is very important in providing positive parenting," the minister noted in her video speech during a media gathering here on Thursday.

According to Puspayoga, providing positive parenting and education to children is important, as it affects the improvement in the quality of the Indonesian nation in the future.

"This investment in human resources is one of the keys to realizing an advanced Indonesia," she pointed out.

Puspayoga noted that the responsibility of providing positive parenting and education should not only be imposed on the mother but must be conducted through sound partnership between the mother and father.

"Parenting is the duty of the father and mother. This means that the quality of parenting is determined by the ability of fathers and mothers to maintain, educate, and instill (values to build) the child's character," she remarked.

The minister assessed that parents must be sensitive to the children's needs and must be able to give the right response by prioritizing the children's best interests.

To improve the role of mothers and families in providing positive parenting and education for children, she affirmed that her ministry had cooperated with other stakeholders to make several programs.

These programs include the Family Learning Center (Puspaga) Program that has now been extended to the district and city levels. The program provides lessons for fathers and mothers to improve their understanding of the importance of education and positive parenting. In addition, the program is a means of providing consultation services and assistance for Indonesian families.

Moreover, the ministry provides training and entrepreneurship assistance to women to empower them and make them economically independent.

Furthermore, the ministry has the Women and Children Friend call center to offer psychological services for women and children, who are victims of violence or for those experiencing mental health problems.

"I hope we can move together. Let us unite our strengths to support each other, share, inspire, and motivate each other. By working hand in hand and empowering one another, the Indonesian nation can achieve progress," the minister said.
