We will transform the management of RSUDs to become more efficient in energy consumption. We want it to be sustainable
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Governor of Jakarta Anies Baswedan focuses on transforming the management of 28 Regional General Hospitals (RSUD) to become more environmentally friendly that includes waste management, water use, and building solar panels.

"We will transform the management of RSUDs to become more efficient in energy consumption. We want it to be sustainable," Baswedan stated at the launch of the carbon emission reduction program here, Tuesday.

The reduction in carbon emissions was conducted together with a network of world city governments under the C40 alliance covering programs related to climate change, financing facilities, and building more environmentally friendly hospital facilities.

The C40 Cities Climate Leadership Group is a group of 97 cities around the world that represents one-twelfth of the world's population and one-quarter of the global economy.

Baswedan remarked that the 2022 regional budget allocation will be utilized to increase facilities at 28 hospitals to become more environmentally friendly.

However, the governor did not furnish details on the amount of budget allocated to conduct the transformation of 28 hospitals to become more environmentally friendly.

He said that the program was a continuation of earlier efforts, such as for energy efficiency, including building 124 solar panels at government facilities, such as hospitals and schools. The electrical energy produced from the 124 solar panels reached 11 Megawatts.

He noted that hospitals operating round the clock consumed more energy and water. They also produced waste that needed to be managed in a sustainable manner.

Hence, Baswedan invited the private sector to make the same efforts even though investment in an environment-friendly sector required high costs.

Even so, to spur the interest of other parties in building, for instance, energy-saving facilities with solar panels, he plans to provide incentives to the private sector, including in terms of convenience or tax incentives.

"Later, we will strive to prepare the incentives, especially for the initial installation," he stated.
