Belitung, Bangka Belitung (ANTARA) - State-owned electricity provider PT PLN (Persero) has prepared six electric vehicle charging stations (SPKLUs) in Belitung District to support the implementation of the ministerial-level meeting of the G20 Development Working Group (DWG).

DWG is one of the working groups of the Indonesian G20 Presidency that aims to discuss developmental issues in the least developed countries, developing countries, and small developing island countries. The DWG meeting will take place in Belitung district, Bangka Belitung Islands province, from September 7 to 9, 2022.

"One of the six SPKLUs has been built permanently, while the rest have been built for temporary use to support the G20 (DWG meeting) in Belitung," General Manager of PT PLN’s (Persero’s) Bangka Belitung Islands regional parent unit Amris Adnan informed at the inauguration of SPKLU operations here on Tuesday.

The inauguration of the permanent SPKLU unit in Lesung Batang Village, Tanjungpandan Sub-district, Belitung District, demonstrates the company’s commitment to supporting efforts to make the G20 event a success, he added.

"The additional five (temporary) SPKLU units will be operated during the G20 event to charge electric vehicles utilized by the G20 delegates later," he informed.

The five temporary SPKLUs have been installed at a number of venues for the event, he said.

Three temporary SPKLUs have been installed at the Sheraton Belitung Resort hotel, one SPKLU at the BW Suite Belitung hotel, and one SPKLU at the H.A.S. Hanandjoeddin International Airport.

"The six SPKLU units have been tested and they are running well, so we are ready to support G20 activities," he said.

Meanwhile, acting governor of Bangka Belitung Islands, Ridwan Djamaluddin, lauded PT PLN's commitment and readiness to support the implementation of the G20 event.

"Alhamdulillah (all praises be to God), all facilities are 100 percent ready to welcome the arrival of the G20 delegates on Belitung Island," he remarked.
