Many G20 delegates have asked about tourist destinations in Belitung Island. They want to know how to go there, and whether they can go by taxi.Belitung, Babel Islands (ANTARA) - In a bid to draw international tourists, the provincial administration of Bangka Belitung (Babel) Islands is intensively promoting Belitung Island tourism among the participants of the G20 Development Working Group (DWG) Meeting.
"This information is very important because many of the G20 participants do not know about tourist destinations in Belitung Island," Acting Governor of Babel Islands Ridwan Djamaluddin said here on Thursday.
Belitung Island has beautiful natural scenery, such as beaches, and culture, which are comparable to Bali and Lombok Islands, he noted.
"Many G20 delegates have asked about tourist destinations in Belitung Island. They want to know how to go there, and whether they can go by taxi. And I responded that taxis are available to take them to various tourist destinations on the island," he said.
Many of the foreign guests attending the G20 meeting have a good impression of Belitung Island and have expressed their intention to return to the island with their families, the acting governor said.
"Those delegates just saw beaches around the venue of the G20 meeting. They have not seen exotic beaches located far from the G20 meeting venue," he added.
Senegalese Minister of Economy, Planning and International Cooperation, Amadou Hott, expressed his admiration for the scenery at Belitung Island’s beaches.
"This is a beautiful island. The beaches are beautiful and natural. Thank you for hosting us,” he remarked.
The G20 DWG is being organized in Belitung Island, Babel Islands, from September 7–9, 2022.
The 17th G20 Heads of State and Government Summit will be held in November 2022 in Bali.
The Summit will be the pinnacle of the G20 process and intense work carried out at the Ministerial Meetings, Working Groups, and Engagement Groups throughout the year under the Indonesian G20 Presidency.
