There is Presidential Staff Listens. This is a means to bring the palace closer to the people
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Chief of the Presidential Staff Office Moeldoko stated that the "Presidential Staff Office Listens" Program was created to bring the Presidential Palace closer to the people.

Moeldoko remarked here on Saturday at the ASNfest 2022 that the event was inspired by the program he created when he was commander of the national defense force, which was National Defense Force Listens.

"There is Presidential Staff Listens. This is a means to bring the palace closer to the people," Moeldoko noted in his written statement.

He affirmed that being heedful of other people's aspirations was one of the traits that a leader must possess.

Moeldoko believes that no gap would exist between leaders and members or officials and the public if the leader were to possess such traits.

Moeldoko recalled his experience while still being active as Second Lieutenant at the Indonesian Army.

"At that time, I had ideas and imaginations for the army in the future. However, as there was a gap between the leadership and higher-ups, I did not even dare to voice what I was thinking. (It was) only 20 years after becoming commander in chief that I pursued the idea," he remarked.

Thus, when he became the commander, he mostly spoke to soldiers to listen to their aspirations. He continued to follow this practice even after becoming the chief of Presidential Staff.

"I also never limit myself in (terms of) accommodating the ideas of staff at the Presidential Staff Office. Anyone can meet and talk to me. If you do not believe it, just prove it, come to the Presidential Staff Office," he stated.

On the occasion, Moeldoko explained that the government had readied young state civil apparatuses to be able to fill high-ranking positions in future since millennials would dominate the profession in future.

"Now, it is only 45-50 percent. However, it is estimated that in future, majority of our state civil apparatuses are millennials. Hence, millennials will serve millennials," he remarked.

After the opening of ASNfest 2022, he also symbolically handed over the aid of artificial limbs to children with disabilities.

ASNfest 2022 was initiated by Abdimuda Indonesia, a forum for young state civil apparatuses.
