The Junior Attorney General for General Crimes has appointed 43 public prosecutors,
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Attorney General's Office (AGO) has appointed 43 public prosecutors to handle the case pertaining to the obstruction of justice following the murder of Brigadier J.

Inspector General Ferdy Sambo and six other police officers have been named suspects in the case.

"The Junior Attorney General for General Crimes has appointed 43 public prosecutors," chief of the Legal Information Service at the AGO, Ketut Sumedana, informed in a written statement released on Monday.



Sumedana said the Junior Attorney General for General Crimes received a letter from the Directorate of Cyber Crime of the National Police’s Criminal Investigation Department informing that Sambo has been named a suspect in the case.



According to the letter, Sambo has been charged under Article 49 juncto Article 33 and/or Article 48 paragraph (1) juncto Article 22 paragraph (1) Law No. 19 of 2016 concerning the first round of amendment to Law No. 11/2008 concerning electronic information and transactions juncto Article 55 paragraph (1) of the Penal Code (KUHP ) and/or the second round of amendment to Article 221 paragraph (1) and/or Article l 233 of KUHP juncto Article 55 paragraph (1) of KUHP.

Police have named seven suspects in the murder case: Inspector General Sambo, Brigadier General Hendra Kurniawan, Senior Commissioner Agus Nur Patria, Adjunct Senior Commissioner Arif Rahman Arifin, Commissioner Chuck Putranto, Commissioner Baiquni Wibowo, and Adjunct Commissioner Irfan Widyanto.



The seven police officers were allegedly involved in a crime leading to the disruption and/or malfunction of an electronic system through the altering, adding, reducing, transmitting, destroying, eliminating, removing, and hiding of electronic information and/or electronic documents belonging to other people or the public.



"After the seven suspects were named, the Junior Attorney General for General Crimes appointed 43 public prosecutors to follow up on developments in the investigation of the case," he said.
