Bandarlampung, Lampung (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Youth and Sports is targeting to secure the active participation of 70 percent of students in sports by 2045 to realize the vision of the Grand Design of National Sports (DBON).

"The Ministry of Youth and Sports is currently working together to realize the DBON," Head of the basic education sports division under the Deputy for Sports Empowerment at the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Supeni Pudyastuti, said at the opening of a Student Sports Festival here on Monday.



The DBON envisages student participation in sports from the age of seven and above, she informed adding, they will undertake regular exercise for a minimum duration of 60 minutes three times a week.



The target of 70 percent active participation of students in sports is expected to increase the level of good mental fitness among students, Pudyastuti said.



“So, from 70 percent of the target for active participation in sports, it is expected that 30 percent of students will have a good level of mental fitness to realize DBON's vision, which is to create excellent, fit, high-achieving students to contribute to sports today and in the future," she added.

According to her, one of the efforts to accelerate the level of student participation in active sports is the organization of student sports festivals (FOPs).



"This Student Sports Festival is expected to be developed to the national level to increase the number of students participating in sports, according to the DBON target," Pudyastuti said.



The government has prepared the DBON, in accordance with President Regulation Number 86 of 2022, with the help of sports policymakers, experts, academics, practitioners, and sports organizations.



The DBON is expected to guide long-term sustainable national sports coaching and development policies. Further, it aims to build a sports ecosystem from upstream to downstream by utilizing science in the field of sports.
