To accelerate the distribution process, we are also cooperating with PT Pos Indonesia because many of our friends (workers) do not have Himbara banks accounts
Badung, Bali (ANTARA) - Manpower Minister Ida Fauziyah targets disbursement of the 2022 wage subsidy assistance (BSU) to workers registered as participants of the Workers Social Security Agency's (BPJS Ketenagakerjaan's) Program to be completed before the end of 2022.

Fauziyah noted here on Tuesday that 4.1 million workers had, so far, received the subsidy channeled through Bank Mandiri, BNI, BRI, and BTN, and Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI) under the State-Owned Banks Association (Himbara).

The total number of beneficiaries of the assistance, which is aimed at supporting workers affected by the increase in fuel prices, reaches 14.6 million workers.

"The 14.6 million workers are from across Indonesia, from Sabang to Merauke," she remarked while reviewing the disbursement process of the 2022 BSU at Krisna Bali, Badung, Bali.

She noted that assistance will be distributed to workers not having bank accounts with Himbara banks and BSI through the state-owned postal company PT Pos Indonesia.

"To accelerate the distribution process, we are also cooperating with PT Pos Indonesia because many of our friends (workers) do not have Himbara banks accounts," she explained.

According to Fauziyah, wage subsidy is evidence that the state is present to help its citizens, who are affected by the increase in fuel prices.

On the occasion, she expressed optimism that the recipients would optimally utilize the assistance offered by the government.

Earlier, the Manpower Ministry had received data of 5.09 million prospective beneficiaries of the 2022 BSU from the Workers Social Security Agency (BPJS Ketenagakerjaan). The ministry then verified and matched the data of prospective beneficiaries for the first phase of disbursement before they were designated as recipients of the 2022 BSU.

After the process, as many as 4.36 million workers were selected as recipients of the first-phase disbursement of the 2022 BSU.

The 2022 BSU disbursement process commenced on Monday, September 12, 2022, and each recipient receives Rp600 thousand.
