In his statement received here on Friday, Moeldoko said that data sovereignty in cyberspace was an extension of the state's sovereignty.
"Anyone who interferes with Indonesia's data sovereignty must be dealt with. We must not brush off this (data sovereignty intrusion) case. If we ignore it, we are considered weak," Moeldoko remarked.
The office chief earlier held a meeting with Head of the National Cyber and Crypto Agency Lieutenant General Hinsa Siburian, President Director of PT Industri Telekomunikasi Indonesia Persero (INTI) Edi Witjara, and CEO of PT DesktopIP Teknologi Indonesia Phidi Soepangkat. DesktopIP is a software provider company for data storage.

According to Moeldoko, the current data leak case should be an eye opener for the government to strive to bolster Indonesia's cybersecurity that could be realized by optimizing domestic technology and involving experts that were talented in that area.
He views the hacking by "Bjorka" as an actual sign for the government to improve and reconsider its security and privacy protection priorities.
“We have the technology, and we also have talents that are experts in cybersecurity. Let us (tap into) these resources to build the foundation to realize national cybersecurity sovereignty," Moeldoko emphasized.
President Director of PT Industri Telekomunikasi Indonesia (Persero) Edi Witjara stated that his administration had innovated and developed a local cloud system called the INTI cloud system.

The INTI cloud system was a cloud and blockchain service platform resulting from domestic innovations that had been equipped with cybersecurity through collaborative development with the National Cyber and Crypto Agency, he elaborated.
"It is expected to become the pride of national cybersecurity," Witjara affirmed.
The hacker, with the username "Bjorka," had become a topic of public discussion owing to claims of having succeeded in hacking some data, such as Indonesian citizens' data, SIM card user data, as well as data on the letter and document for President Joko Widodo.
On Wednesday, September 14, Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Mahfud MD ensured that no state secret data was leaked by hacking from groups or individuals claiming to be "Bjorka."
