The government had formed a task force for data protection to become more careful in protecting and securing our data
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The government formed a data protection task force to safeguard data, especially state-related data, from various threats of leakage or hacking, including from Bjorka, Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs, Mahfud MD, stated.

"The government had formed a task force for data protection to become more careful in protecting and securing our data," Minister Mahfud noted at a press conference in his office, here, Wednesday.

The minister later remarked that formation of the task force and discussion of the settlement of the hacking case by Bjorka had been through negotiations involving Minister Mahfud, Minister of Communication and Informatics Jhonny G. Plate, Head of the State Intelligence Agency (BIN) Budi Gunawan, Head of the National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN) Hinsa Siburian, and National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo.

Furthermore, the task force formation was based on the cyberattack launched by a hacker Bjorka, who reminded Indonesians of the importance of building a more advanced cybersecurity system, and also based on mandates of the Law on Personal Data Protection that will soon be ratified by the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), Mahfud remarked.

However, the minister remarked that data leaked by Bjorka was included as general data and not a state secret data.

"This is only general data and, so far, no state secret data has been breached," he added.

In fact, he said that Bjorka's motive to leak the government's data was based on a combination of political, economic, and buying-selling issues.

"There are no such motives that are too dangerous," Mahfud remarked.

Hence, Mahfud reminded citizens that the government was serious in dealing with cases of data leakage.

"We will take it seriously and have started to handle this problem," Mahfud noted.

Earlier, Bjorka claimed to have succeeded in hacking several confidential data, ranging from data on Indonesian residents, SIM card user data, personal data of Minister of Communication and Informatics Johnny G. Plate, as well as confidential document data belonging to Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi), and several other national figures.

Bjorka's claim was disseminated by a Twitter account "DarkTracer: DarkWeb Criminal Intelligence" that later went viral and became one of the most popular topics of discussion on Twitter.
