Next year (in 2023), according to the Regional Development Plan (RPD), hopefully, we would be able to provide no less than 100 (additional) electric buses for TransJakarta.Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Jakarta provincial government has planned to operate 200 electric vehicles as the regional government’s official vehicles starting in 2023 to improve air quality in the region.
"Next year, we will prepare no less than 100 (four-wheeled vehicles) as well as no less than 100 two-wheeled vehicles (as operational vehicles)," Deputy Governor of Jakarta Ahmad Riza Patria stated at the commemoration of National Transportation Day here on Saturday.
However, Patria did not divulge details of the budget readied for the procurement of electric vehicles.
The procurement will be conducted in stages, and the number of electric official vehicles will be increased according to the needs, the deputy governor stated.
He expressed optimism that the public would also support the government's attempt to improve the air quality in Jakarta, including by using means of mass public transportation.

Jakarta Provincial Government-owned transportation enterprise PT Transportatsi Jakarta (TransJakarta) has operated 30 electric buses. It is planned that the company will ply 100 electric buses by the end of 2022.

The provincial government's endeavor to procure official electric vehicles aligns with Presidential Instruction Number 7 of 2022 on the use of electric vehicles as official vehicles for central and regional government institutions.
Through the regulation, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) called on regional heads to implement rules that could expedite the use of electric vehicles in Indonesia.
He also instructed regional governments to ready budget allocations to support the program as well as to encourage Regional-owned Enterprises (BUMD) to increase the use of various types of battery-based electric motorized vehicles.
In addition, the regional heads are urged to synergize their working units to monitor developments pertaining to the use of electric vehicles as official vehicles as well as to provide fiscal and non-fiscal incentives for the users of battery-based electric vehicles.
