There is no longer a terrorist stigma on him.Rejang Lebong, Bengkulu (ANTARA) - The National Police's Anti-Terrorism Squad Densus 88 has mentored and provided guidance to 13 former terror convicts in Bengkulu Province.
The 13 convicts have withdrawn their pledge of allegiance (bai'at) and taken an oath of allegiance to the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia, chief of the Densus 88 Task Force for Bengkulu Region, Senior Commissioner Imam Subandi, informed on Saturday.
"They have been busy with their businesses and jobs. Even some of them have been self-reliant. Only a few of them still need mentoring to carry out their tasks in the community and family, to meet their household needs," he said.
The guidance and mentoring are aimed at helping them return to the community and do useful things for themselves and the nation, he added.
He said one of the former terror convicts, identified as Humaidi alias Hamzah, is now busy making preparations for his coffee plantation, palm sugar, and poultry husbandry businesses in Sindang Dataran Sub-district, Rejang Lebong District, Bengkulu.
"I think that is positive. I hope the public will not ostracize him and will treat him as an ordinary citizen," he added.
Humaidi, who was involved in a bomb terror case in Kampung Melayu, East Jakarta, and the Plaza Sarinah bombing case in Central Jakarta in 2016, has been socializing with the local people, he said.
