Currently, the two locations which are being reviewed are the Grogol and Pulo Gebang bus stations.Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Jakarta Provincial Transportation Office is conducting a feasibility study on the development of electric vehicle charging stations (SPKLUs) at two bus stations in the province to encourage people to use more eco-friendly vehicles.
"Currently, the two locations which are being reviewed are the Grogol and Pulo Gebang bus stations," Head of the Jakarta Transportation Office Syafrin Liputo said here on Saturday.
The review is being carried out regarding the traffic flow in the area, so that the establishment of the SPKLUs will not disrupt activities at the bus stations, he informed.
His office is targeting to install SPKLUs at all bus stations in the province in the future so that the facilities can be used to charge both public transportation, such as electric buses belonging to Jakarta government-owned transportation enterprise PT Transportasi Jakarta (TransJakarta), as well as private electric vehicles.
In the near future, the Jakarta Transportation Office will also collaborate with the private sector to build more SPKLUs to accommodate the needs of the community, Liputo said.

Hence, his office is also reviewing several bus stations that have the potential to house SPKLUs, which will be developed under a collaboration between the private sector and the provincial government-owned construction company PT Jakarta Propertindo’s (Jakpro’s) subsidiaries, to support the implementation of the electric-based motorized vehicle program, he added.
The establishment of SPKLUs is in line with Presidential Instruction Number 7 of 2022 on the use of electric vehicles as official vehicles for central and regional government institutions, which was signed on September 13, 2022.
Through the regulation, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has called upon regional heads to implement rules that would expedite the use of electric vehicles in Indonesia as well as encourage regional government-owned enterprises (BUMDs) to increase the use of various types of battery-based electric vehicles.
The Jakarta provincial government is planning to add 200 electric vehicles to its official fleet starting in 2023.
Meanwhile, PT TransJakarta is aiming to put 100 electric buses on the road by the end of 2022.
