"We are targeting to increase the life expectancy, which is currently in the 70s, to 80 by 2030," Head of the Jakarta Provincial Health Service Widyastuti said at an online seminar on “Healthy House” in Jakarta on Tuesday.
To increase the life expectancy of Jakarta's residents, a health service transformation will be carried out at 31 hospitals in Jakarta, she informed.
This will involve the regional government carrying out strategies such as creating an adaptive service and creating an integrated referral service ecosystem, Widyastuti added.
This will be followed up with the provision of qualified easy access, the creation of an interconnected digital platform, and the management of human resources for realizing collaboration between elements.
Another transformation will involve emphasizing a healthy paradigm in health services, in terms of changing community mindsets, strengthening preventive and promotive health services, expanding consumers, and supporting a healthy lifestyle as a new way of life for residents, she said.
The Jakarta provincial government has also renamed 32 regional hospitals in Jakarta as "Healthy Houses,” which is expected to become a momentum to improve health services, Widyastuti informed.
The renaming is aimed at changing people's mindsets about hospitals. With the renaming, people are expected to visit hospitals not only when they are sick but also when they are in good health to get medical check-ups to maintain life expectancy.
The efforts to increase life expectancy will not only involve strengthening the health system, but also realizing the implementation of waste management standards and green buildings at 100 percent of health facilities by 2030 to anticipate the environmental impact of the health sector, she said.
Based on data from Statistics Indonesia (BPS), in Jakarta, life expectancy at birth reached 72.79 in 2019, an increase compared to 2018, when it was recorded at 72.67.
Life expectancy in Jakarta increased to 72.91 in 2020 and 73.01 in 2021.
