Makassar, South Sulawesi (ANTARA) - The South Sulawesi Education Office will hold the top (andalan) students parade and anti-lazy (anti-mager) movement from October 4–15, 2022, to mark the 353rd anniversary of South Sulawesi Province.

The parade is an important effort to fix the primordial ties that have loosened due to a shift in local values, especially among young people, Head of the Education Office Setiawan Aswad informed here on Monday.

"This is important amid student brawls, bullying, and violence in the educational environment. Thus, the South Sulawesi Education Office has taken a smart approach. This is also a positive breakthrough from the South Sulawesi provincial government," he added.

The andalan student parade is based on the philosophy of the eight tribes of South Sulawesi, including the Bugis, Makassar, Toraja, Luwu, Mandar, and Konjo. Some of these tribes have spread in the four cardinal directions: north, east, south, and west.

The student parade will be followed by a lantern parade, which high school, vocational high school, special school, and madrasah aliyah (MA) students will participate in. A reflection evening will also be held and comprise pledge-taking by South Sulawesi's top students and the governor's documentary film screening.

The student parade will be divided into four different routes: east, west, south, and north, Aswad said.

Route 1 (east) will go through Bone - Soppeng - Maros - Makassar and Route 2 (north) through East Luwu - North Luwu - Palopo - Soppeng - Wajo - Sidrap - Parepare - Barru - Pangkep - Maros - Makassar.

Route 3 (west) will pass through North Toraja - Toraja - Enrekang - Pinrang/Sidrap - Parepare - Barru - Pangkep - Maros - Makassar, while Route 4 (south) will go through Sinjai - Selayar - Bulukumba - Jeneponto - Bantaeng - Takalar - Gowa - Makassar.

The parade participants from the four routes will arrive simultaneously at Makassar Karebosi Field on October 15, 2022, Aswad explained.

Meanwhile, the anti-lazy event will include activities such as walking for health, a yell-yell competition, and traditional sports competitions.
