The go green implementation is carried out, such as by using electric cars, not using plastic bottles, and so on
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The 2023 Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC) World Beach Games (AWBG) in Bali will apply an environment-friendly concept, Acting Secretary General of the Indonesia National Olympic Committee (NOC) Harry Warganegara stated here on Thursday.

"The OCA (Olympic Council of Asia) itself discusses the Olympic Movement and how to encourage the younger generation to exercise, athletes, sustainability, and environmental care," Warganegara stated.

He remarked that the green concept to be applied at the 2023 AWBG aligned with the program agreed at OCA's General Assembly in Cambodia on Tuesday (October 4).

The meeting resulted in several decisions, such as budget savings for the multievent organizers, including Indonesia, as the 2023 AWBG host.

"The go green implementation is carried out, such as by using electric cars, not using plastic bottles, and so on," Warganegara added.

Furthermore, he said budget savings can be made by trimming down the transportation service.

"The transportation (that will be provided at the 2023 AWBG) no longer has VIP (vehicles), except for heads of state. Hence, the NOC chairpersons and others can use shared transportation," he remarked.

Meanwhile, at the 41st OCA General Assembly, ANOC Secretary General Gunilla Lindberg also spoke about the implementation of AWBG 2023.

Warganegara was present at the OCA General Assembly along with NOC Indonesia Executive Committee Jadi Rajagukguk, Deputy Secretary General III Josephine Tampubolon, and International Relations staff Lilla Hovart.

At the activity, Lindberg said that 38 NOCs had, so far, qualified to participate in 14 sports at the 2nd edition of AWBG in Bali held on August 5-12, 2023.

Some of the sports to be competed are beach handball, beach soccer, beach tennis, 4×4 beach volley, and beach waterpolo.

She expressed optimism that over 100 NOCs would compete in the event.

The ANOC will hold a General Assembly again in Seoul, South Korea, on October 19-21 to discuss further the implementation of Bali AWBG.
