Jakarta (ANTARA) - Statistics Indonesia (BPS) trained 400 thousand officers to collect the integrated socio-economic registration (Regsosek) data to be utilized to implement various programs of central and regional governments, BPS Head Margo Yuwono stated on Monday.

"In preparation for (collecting the) Regsosek data, BPS recruited about 400 thousand officers, and we have trained them with several professional instructors throughout Indonesia," Yuwono remarked at the "Regsosek Talkshow: Utilizing One Data for the Nation, Sharing the Benefits for Community’s Welfare."

The socio-economic registration is the collection of data of people across Indonesia, including the president and government officials, covering diverse profiles and socio-economic conditions.

The diverse information included in the data collection ranged from demographics, employment, housing conditions, health and disability conditions, social protection, economic empowerment, to asset ownership as well as geo-spatial information.

Data collection will be conducted from October 15 to November 14, 2022, through a door-to-door census using the Paper and Pen Interview (PAPI) method.

In addition, geotags will be provided for the houses of disadvantaged families, and some pictures of the houses will be taken.

Through structured training, the BPS head expects every officer to gather the data and required information well in accordance with the determined method.

"The range of the collected variables indicates that the data will be used widely. Regsosek data is not (gathered) only for one ministry, but it can also be shared with several related ministries," he remarked.

The result of the data collection activity is expected to help in categorizing the condition of Indonesian people, ranging from the extremely poor group to the upper middle class.

In addition, it can improve the recipient database of various social protection (Perlinsos) programs of the government.

Furthermore, Regsosek data will be integrated with data from the Directorate General of Population and Civil Registration (Dukcapil) of the Home Affairs Ministry as well as the data from other ministries and institutions.

"We also need to start planning on how to collaborate to update the data that should be carried out together regularly," Yuwono added.
