It is safe. PKB remains solid (right up to the bottom cadres)Semarang, C Java (ANTARA) - The Nation Awakening Party (PKB) has claimed that its executive board members and cadres will solidly support its presidential and vice presidential candidates, whose names it will soon announce with the Greater Indonesia Movement (Gerindra) Party.
"It is safe. PKB remains solid (right up to the bottom cadres)," PKB chairman Abdul Muhaimin Iskandar said while attending a series of activities of the party's provincial executive board in Central Java on Monday evening.
PKB and Gerindra are making preparations for the announcement of the presidential and vice presidential candidates for the 2024 elections, he said.
In addition, the regional executive boards of the two parties have continued to conduct intensive communication, he said.
“Today, the two parties are holding a meeting. I don't know the results of the meeting since it is still going on," he said.
He also refused to divulge when the declaration of the presidential and vice presidential candidates will take place.
"It will be made public later on. To be sure, it is being prepared," he assured.
PKB signed a contract with Gerindra to join forces in the run-up to the 2024 polls during the Gerindra leadership meeting at Sentul International Convention Center (SICC) in Bogor district, West Java, on August 13, 2022.
As per Article 222 of the General Election Law No. 7/2017, a party or a coalition of parties must secure a minimum of 20 percent of parliamentary seats or 25 percent of the popular vote to nominate a candidate in the presidential election.
In the 2019 elections, PKB, which ranked fifth, secured 58 seats or 9.69 percent of the parliamentary seats, while Gerindra, which came third, won 78 or 12.57 percent of the seats.
So far, only the National Democratic (NasDem) Party and the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI) have declared their presidential candidates.
