Jakarta (ANTARA) - The National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) is hosting an “Exhibition on Disaster” at the BSCC Dome, Balikpapan City, East Kalimantan Province, to educate the public as part of the Disaster Risk Reduction Month commemoration.

The exhibition is featuring 30 booths of disaster activists, Deputy for Prevention at BNPB Prasinta Dewi informed in an online broadcast. The exhibition is being held from October 12 to 13, 2022.

"This disaster exhibition is an event and a medium to share information related to the achievements and lessons learned from Disaster Risk Reduction efforts conducted by all disaster actors or activists from the government, non-government organizations, communities, academics or universities, to business institutions," she added.

She said that she expects the activity to inform people, as well as boost social networking.

On the same occasion, an official of the Balikapapan city government Zulkifli said that the activity is an opportunity to foster awareness for everyone.

It is an investment in resilience that also serves as a means to establish collective awareness, particularly in East Kalimantan, the future state capital, and it will start from good disaster risk reduction management, he added.

The agency, in collaboration with the East Kalimantan's provincial, districts, and city governments, is commemorating the 2022 Disaster Risk Reduction Month with the theme "Together We Are Resilient.”

As part of the commemoration, a talk show was also hosted to share information, discuss, learn, or provide experiences related to disaster issues.

It also featured the Ignite Stage, a platform for disaster activists to announce information and programs related to disaster mitigation.

Next was the Tangguh Exhibition featuring photos captured during disasters in the period from 2012 to 2022. The displayed works were the results of the Tangguh Awards creativity competition and documentation provided by the agency.
