"We thank BNPB for their attention to Bali. In each disaster escalation in Bali, BNPB always responds very well, including disbursing equipment and operational funding support," Jaya stated in Denpasar on Thursday.
He then outlined the disaster equipment consisting of 40 units of water tanks, 100 units of water pumps and hoses, 30 units of portable pumps, and 40 units of 4x4 meter tents. All assistance was distributed evenly to nine districts and cities in Bali.
Suharyanto also urged that the aid distribution process be carried out well.
"Bali Province has the best work efforts to handle the disaster. Therefore, in this aid distribution, please also do better like other regions," he remarked.
Regarding budget assistance, Suharyanto stated that the central government had not disbursed several post-disaster Rehabilitation and Reconstruction (RR) Funds to Bali since the 2020-2022 period.
However, in 2023, in the first stage, Bangli District will receive RR fund grant of Rp19.2 billion that is currently being processed by the Finance Ministry, he noted.
"The lack of RR Funds for Bali in the last few years is because there have not been many disasters. The region was also able to manage the existing funds sufficiently. I hope they will continue the good work," he revealed.
Apart from distributing aid for drought disaster mitigation tools and explaining the flow of submitting budget proposals, BNPB has also been helping Bali Province to deal with forest and land fire (karhutla) disasters, especially at landfill sites (TPA).
To handle fires at Suwung Landfill and Mandung Landfill, the BNPB deployed water bombing helicopters as well as jet nozzles, spray nozzles, hoses, suction machines, t-shirts, fire extinguisher PPE, portable fire extinguishers, and evacuation posts, Suharyanto stated.
