"We are ready to supervise efforts to increase access to education at all levels and the efficiency of programs implemented by the ministry," BPKP Head Muhammad Yusuf Ateh noted here on Friday.
BPKP's supervision of the education ministry's programs was established through the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between BPKP Head Ateh and Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology, Nadiem Anwar Makarim.
Ateh lauded the ministry for cooperating in providing data and information to support BPKP's supervision.
The MoU signing between the two institutions aims to affirm the commitment to realizing equitable access to and improving the quality of education across Indonesia.
Meanwhile, Minister Makarim remarked that for the past three years, the ministry has conducted massive and substantive transformation in the Indonesian education system that is summarized in the Merdeka Belajar, or the Freedom in Learning program.
The cooperation is targeted at realizing efficient, effective, flexible, and accountable governance in the programs, he added.
Moreover, he noted that the MoU signing was also aimed at maintaining the sustainability of the Merdeka Belajar Program and ensure that all programs can be implemented optimally.
"It is important for us to collaborate with the BPKP to supervise every initiative under the Merdeka Belajar policy," he explained.
The minister pointed out that the education sector had become the first theme in the human resource development reform contained in the 2022 Supervisory Priority Agenda.
Five points in the human resources development reform that become BPKP's focus are policies to improve the quality of national education, and educational facilities and infrastructure, the School Operational Assistance (BOS), the Smart Indonesia Card (KIP) and Smart Indonesia Program (PIP), and the strengthening of vocational education and training.
