Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture underscored the significance of boosting vocational education to realize superior and competitive human resources (HR).

"Excellent, productive, and competitive human resources can be realized through the provision of vocational education and training," the ministry's acting Deputy of Coordination for Education Quality Improvement and Religious Moderation, Aris Darmansyah Edisaputra, stated here, Tuesday.

The government continues to strengthen vocational education by conducting revitalization as stipulated in Presidential Regulation Number 68 of 2022 on the Revitalization of Vocational Education and Vocational Training to encourage the creation of superior HR, as Indonesia will achieve a demographic bonus that needs to be utilized optimally, he affirmed.

Edisaputra remarked that the revitalization includes several actions outlined in the national strategy of vocational education and vocational training.

"This strategy encourages the role of the business world, industry, and the world of work (Dudika) in the implementation of vocational education," he stated.

He said the revitalization aimed at ensuring that vocational education graduates have competencies that align with Dudika's requirements.

"Thus, they can become entrepreneurs or match the existing job vacancies," he remarked.

Meanwhile, Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Muhadjir Effendy said his ministry continued to coordinate with related agencies regarding the implementation of Presidential Regulation Number 68 of 2022.

"The target is that by 2024, some 80 percent of the productive age group would have entered the world of vocational education and training in order to take advantage of the demographic bonus," he stated.

To this end, the government needs the support of all relevant parties, including the business world.

"This program requires the support of all parties, including the business world. The world that will be faced by students. We must bring the students into the world of work immediately," he emphasized.
