By studying abroad, even if it is short, the impact can be lifelong
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Education, Culture, Research, and Technology Ministry dispatched 24 students, who received the Indonesian International Student Mobility Awards for Vocational Edition (IISMAVO) scholarship, to study in England.

"We hope that the scholarship awardees would understand their role as the nation's youth during the IISMAVO activities," the ministry's Academic Director of Vocational Higher Education, Beny Bandanadjaja, remarked here on Monday.

Bandanadjaja also appealed to students to be enthusiastic in conducting their duties and responsibilities as students, cultural ambassadors, and Indonesian vocational ambassadors in their destination country.

IISMAVO is a vocational scholarship program offered by the government to fund Indonesian students for an opportunity to study abroad in reputable universities and industries overseas. This program includes collaboration with industries where students will enhance their skills through practical assignments.

The 24 students, who came from 18 vocational colleges, will study for one semester at the University of Nottingham, England.

"Maintain the good name of Indonesia, the good name of the Ministry, and the good name of vocational (education), because your successes are a vocational success," Bandanadjaja stated.

Meanwhile, Coordinator for International Cooperation of Vocational Education, Cecep Somantri, said that IISMAVO is an implementation of the Merdeka Belajar (Freedom in Learning) policy.

Philosophically, IISMAVO is a crucial medium that is expected to broaden students' insights and perspectives, he stated.

"By studying abroad, even if it is short, the impact can be lifelong," he added.

An IISMAVO scholarship recipient, Faishal Hanif Permata, seeks to make the most of the program to achieve useful goals.

"Thank you to all those who helped with the departure process. Pray for us that we can undergo this program smoothly and return to Indonesia by bringing many experiences that can contribute to this program, campus, and country. Pray for us to go home healthy," Permata stated.
