The 26 Fomepizole drug vials comprise 10 from Singapore and 16 from Australia, he told the press after an event commemorating the National Osteoporosis Day here on Sunday.
He noted that the drugs that will help the recovery of acute kidney injury patients are rare drugs. He lauded and thanked the assistance from Singapore and Australia.
"I called the Singapore and Australian ministers of health and they gave it immediately," he remarked.
Earlier, the Ministry of Health announced that 200 vials of injection Fomepizole drug will be brought to Indonesia to recover 69 patients of atypical progressive acute kidney injury.
In a press conference here on Friday, Sadikin noted that he has ordered 200 vials of injection Fomepizole. Each patient is expected to receive one vial with 1,5 gram or 1,5 ml injection dose.
"There are several injections, but one vial is enough. We hope it would be distributed immediately to hospitals," he stated.
The drug had been tested on 10 patients who are currently being treated at the Dr. Cipto Mangunkusumo National Central Public Hospital (RSCM) here.
Fomepizole induced an improvement in the patients' symptoms while the condition of other body parts remained stable.
The government has managed to uncover the cause of acute kidney injury based on an investigation of pathogens that contaminate syrup medicines, namely ethylene glycol, diethylene glycol (DEG), and ethylene glycol butyl ether (EGBE).
