We continue to anticipate the vulnerability of immigration violations and other matters related to immigration duties and functions
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Directorate General of Immigration of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights has mapped potential threats and disturbances involving foreign nationals ahead of the G20 Summit.

"To prevent these threats and disturbances, immigration and related ministries/institutions have conducted intelligence operations starting from June 2022 until now," Director of Immigration Intelligence at the ministry R.P. Mulya said here on Monday.

The G20 is a multilateral cooperation forum consisting of 19 major countries and the European Union (EU). The members of the grouping account for more than 60 percent of the world's population, 75 percent of global trade, and 80 percent of the world's gross domestic product (GDP).

They consist of South Africa, the United States, Saudi Arabia, Argentina, Australia, Brazil, India, Indonesia, the United Kingdom, Italy, Japan, Germany, Canada, Mexico, South Korea, Russia, France, China, Turkey, and the European Union.

According to Mulya, the operations team has so far carried out monitoring of around 23 G20 activities, including sideline meetings, main events, and meetings held by the ministry.

The team will also monitor around eight G20 activities as well as the G20 Summit in Bali, he said.

"The team carries out monitoring activities at each of the G20 series of events," he added.

The operations team is also ensuring the provision of visas and other immigration facilities for foreign delegates and journalists. The team is also coordinating the readiness of immigration services at immigration checkpoints and immigration offices.

"We continue to anticipate the vulnerability of immigration violations and other matters related to immigration duties and functions," Mulya added.

In addition, the operations team has also mapped the potential for security and order disturbances that could occur around the event, for example, demonstrations by foreigners.

Considering that the G20 Summit is a prestigious forum and a reflection of Indonesia's readiness at the global level, he said he hopes for the support of various related parties for the success of organizing the peak event of the G20.

Mulya also called for coordination and information exchange to map various potential vulnerabilities in order to produce recommendations for anticipating threats, challenges, obstacles, and disruptions to the implementation of G20 activities.
