Those programs are implemented by seven ministries and government institutionsJayapura, Papua (ANTARA) - The government is ready to collaborate with various parties to fulfil and advance the rights of residents living under customary laws, according to Presidential Staff Office (KSP) Deputy V Jaleswari Pramodhawardhani.
"The KSP is ready to collaborate, as issues on customary residents have been included in the 2019-2024 National Middle-term Development Plan to protect and advance the rights of customary residents," Pramodhawardhani noted, as per the statement on Thursday.
At the VI Nusantara Customary Community Congress (KMAN) in Waibu Sub-district, Jayapura District, Papua, Tuesday (October 25), Pramodhawardhani noted that legal protection, economic empowerment, and utilization of sustainable natural resources are among the rights which the government would ensure to customary communities.

The priority programs for customary communities have been translated into three cross-institution projects aimed at developing customary areas as cultural and environmental preservation centre, empowering the customary and cultural communities, and protecting community cultural diversity and copyrights, the KSP deputy expounded.
"Those programs are implemented by seven ministries and government institutions," Pramodhawardhani noted.
Meanwhile, Sandrayati Moniaga from the National Commission for Human Rights Commissioner lauded the congress as a medium to deliberate the development of Indonesia's customary communities.

"The commission always encourages the realization of recognition and protection for customary communities," she remarked.
Moreover, House of Representatives (DPR RI) Legislative Body member Sulaiman L Hamzah affirmed his side's commitment to collaborate in drafting and passing the Customary Community Bill that has been designated as a priority legislation in 2023.
"We are ready to collaborate to formulate strategies to expedite the Customary Community Bill in our two terms of monitoring the bill's legislation process," Hamzah said.
He added that eight of the nine parliamentary fractions have agreed on the harmonization and finalization of the basic concepts of the bill.
