"This is the compensation from the President. He is very concerned about this tragedy. Moreover, there is also compensation from the Social Affairs Ministry," Rismaharini informed here on Friday.
She said that of the seven compensation packages for Kanjuruhan victims, six packages were provided by the President.
The compensation demonstrated the government's mindfulness of their losses, she said, adding that it did not intend to replace the families’ loss.
"(The compensation) is not to replace your sons or daughters, or brothers and sisters who have predeceased us. We express our utmost condolences for your losses," the minister said.
While expressing the hope that the tragedy would not recur in the future, the minister reiterated her commitment to follow up with families and children who lost their kin or parents in the incident.
The minister also heard a complaint from a resident about issues with medical services provided to Kanjuruhan victims at a hospital, which forced them to seek treatment at other hospitals.
Responding to the grievance, Rismaharini said that she will forward the complaint to the provincial authority to ensure optimum outpatient treatment of victims of the tragedy.
"The fees incurred (due to treatment at another hospital) will be reimbursed by the municipal authority to the resident, while for Malang district, the district head has also promised to me (to ensure medical services), but I will again remind him," she assured.
The Kanjuruhan Stadium stampede broke out after an Indonesian League 1 match between Arema FC and Persebaya Surabaya at the stadium in Malang district, East Java province, on October 1, 2022. As of October 18, the total number of fatalities in the tragedy reached 135.
