We will continue this work, and the ministry completely supports the development of this plant. Sorghum fruits and trees have economic value
Central Lombok, West Nusa Teng (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing reiterated support for sorghum plant development in Central Lombok District, West Nusa Tenggara, to maintain national food resilience.

"The land used to develop sorghum is owned by the government and is expected to help support growth of the people's economy," Minister Basuki Hadimuljono stated after attending a sorghum planting event at the Batujai Dam area, Central Praya Sub-district, here, Saturday.

The total area allocated for sorghum plant development in the region reaches 110 hectares, and one hectare of land is expected to produce up to six tons of sorghum, he remarked.

The minister highlighted that sorghum has huge potential after the plant is ready to be harvested within three years. He pressed for proper monitoring of the program to achieve successful harvest and production.

Apart from planting sorghum plants, Hadimuljono, members of the House of Representatives (DPR RI) Commission V, and other officials also visited a water reservoir developed for the programme during the event.
