Tangerang, Banten (ANTARA) - State-run airport operator PT Angkasa Pura II (Persero) opened an electric vehicle charging station (SPKLU) at Terminal 3 of Soekarno-Hatta (Soetta) Airport, Tangerang city, Banten province, on Wednesday to help realize the green airport concept.

"There is officially a public SPKLU at Soetta Airport, which is located in the parking area of Domestic Terminal 3. It is the first SPKLU provided at the airport," president director of PT Angkasa Pura II, Muhammad Awaluddin, said while inaugurating the facility here on Wednesday.

The establishment of the SPKLU is part of AP II’s attempts to provide value added services to passengers using electric vehicles, he added.

"Because we know that currently, the number of electric vehicles in Indonesia, both four- and two-wheeled vehicles, is continuing to grow. Thus, the government is keeping on encouraging the establishment of electric-powered motorized vehicle facilities," he said.

In addition, the operation of the SPKLU aims to support the implementation of the Airport Green Energy concept as part of efforts to achieve net-zero emissions at Soekarno Hatta Airport.

"Certainly, in realizing it, AP II cannot work alone, we need to be supported by other stakeholders. In the future, God willing, we will add more SPKLUs," the AP II president director stated.

He informed that his party plans to build another SPKLU at the Soetta Airport Cargo Terminal in the near future.

"There will be additional (SPKLUs) at the cargo terminal. I have asked the AP II’s director of cargo to provide the facility, thus there will be many SPKLU points, which can be used by the public in the airport area later," he added.

AP II’s director of operations at Soetta Airport, Muhammad Putra Pariadi, said that the SPKLUs could be used for electric taxis, electric buses, Segways, skytrains, electric bicycles used by airport staff, as well as buggy cars used by passengers at the terminal.

Payments for the vehicle charging service can be made through the Quick Response (QR) code or cash transfers from banks collaborating with AP II, he added.

The tariff starts from Rp1,630 to Rp2,440 per kilowatt-hour (kWh). The facility has a maximum capacity of charging three vehicles in one hour, he added.
