"The BPJPH has received submissions from 104 foreign halal institutions (LHLN) from 40 countries," BPJPH head Aqil Irham stated in Jakarta, Monday.
Irham remarked that the Halal Product Guarantee (JPH) cooperation was one of the important matters in the implementation of JPH in Indonesia. Moreover, JPH is currently becoming a global trend. Hence, international cooperation related to halal products' assurance is deemed necessary.
The BPJPH head affirmed that most proposals for cooperation came from Muslim-minority countries. Thus, halal products were not only a necessity for Muslims but have become a global lifestyle.
"Majority of the submissions came from secular countries or Muslim minorities and are somewhat agnostic, but they were enthusiastic about halal products," Irham remarked.
On account of the fact that the halal product ecosystem continues to grow, he invited producers, both from micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to large retail entrepreneurs, to immediately certify their products with halal certification.
"Retailers are proactive in certifying their products as halal. Halal issues have become a way of life for people. It is no longer a religious issue but a global standard," Irham said.
The BPJPH will hold the Halal 20 (H20) forum in Semarang on November 17-19, 2022. The Halal 20 forum is part of the Indonesia G20 Presidency with the theme "Global Halal Partnership for a Robust Sustainable Future."
According to Irham, the H20 organization aims to strengthen, promote, and develop cooperation on halal product assurance (JPH) in the global market on the basis of mutual understanding, acceptance, and benefit.
The H20 Forum will also discuss several global issues related to halal product guarantees, including the rules for mutual acceptance of halal certification, to accelerate product export-import cooperation.
