MSMEs are our foundation that we must embrace
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesian micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) could be a reference for the global community for their contribution to the national economy, according to the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin).

Kadin's Deputy Head II for Economic Affairs, Franky Oesman Widjaya, stated that by contributing 60 percent to the national gross domestic product (GDP), Indonesian MSMEs have become the mainstay of the national economy in times of the pandemic and global recession.

"MSMEs are our foundation that we must embrace. On October 3, 2022, Kadin had invited President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) to open and launch the Inclusive Partnership Movement for MSMEs Upgrade," Widjaya noted as per the statement on Thursday.

Synergy among the government, private sector, and entrepreneurs would open new opportunities for MSMEs through capital assistance, business support, and market access, he remarked.

"Through the ongoing movement, MSMEs gained technology, financial, and market accesses, so they would enjoy greater markets. They must be assisted, lest they will have a hard time developing themselves. We have many instances of assistance that led to successes," the Kadin deputy head expounded.

Widjaya expressed hope that the movement would be more systematic, with the involvement of more companies, including by providing business ranking status to indicate the progress made by MSMEs.

Widjaya said that the ranking could be indicated through colors, for instance, by designating blue status for the best MSMEs, and in the decreasing order, green, yellow, and red ranking for the lowest ranking.

MSMEs, with red ranking, would receive intensive assistance to introduce them to effective marketing through a special module, he remarked.

He affirmed that the MSMEs development programs will be performed in concert with the poverty eradication programs to boost MSMEs and improve the livelihoods of residents.

"If MSMEs are active, Indonesia will emerge among the top five major economies by 2045 as predicted by economic experts," Widjaya remarked.
