Jakarta (ANTARA) - The National Development Planning Ministry (Bappenas) unveiled the Indonesia Digital Industry Development Master Plan for 2023-2045 in an effort to support digital transformation in the country.

The document contains strategies and initiatives intended to support digital transformation as a strategy to drive inclusive and sustainable economic transformation in Indonesia, Bappenas' Head Suharso Monoarfa noted during the unveiling event streamed online, Monday.

There are various strategies described within the document. The first strategy involves the need to improve the capacity of the domestic digital industry's supply side.

This is undertaken by preparing a support system for digital industry development, strengthening innovation as well as research, design and development (RD&D), improving the domestic component level, and empowering the digital value chain.

The second concerns developing the domestic demand for the digital industry by expanding digital products and/or services in priority sectors: public and commercial.

It is also conducted by providing internet service access convenience for certain segments and access convenience for digital products and hardware for certain segments.

The third involves improving the capacity of the domestic digital industry's enabler by formulating digital industry development regulations and policies, improving the capacity of digital talents, and designing creative and sustainable funding scheme.

The fourth relates to integrating the implementation of digitalization in an effective and efficient manner by developing a national super platform and appointing State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) as the operating arm of the domestic digital industry.

These various strategies and initiatives are expected to integrate the supplier, demand, and enabler existing in the digital industry.

The domestic digital industry's development will go through five phases that comprise consolidation and Indonesia's digital industry, base strengthening and digital industry acceleration, and bolstering the digital industry's contribution to economic growth.

The last two phases involve boosting the competitiveness of the digital industry as well as domestic market mastery in addition to continued maintenance of the national digital industry.
