"I highly laud the efforts to prevent it (corruption) early and remind what must be done regarding the regulations," Acting Governor of Jakarta Heru Budi Hartono stated at the Coordination for the Prevention of Corruption in the World of Business event here on Tuesday.
Establishment of the committee, which is carried out in collaboration with the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), is in accordance with the regulations in Jakarta Governor Decree Number 859 of 2022 that was issued on September 30, 2022.
The committee serves as a space for discussions between the government and business players in the form of public and private dialogues to discuss strategic issues and business obstacles.
Thus, corruption prevention can be conducted simultaneously and comprehensively through a collaborative and participatory approach.
The committee can also give recommendations for solving problems in business processes to KPK, regulators, and business associations.
Hartono expressed optimism that with a corruption-free ecosystem, the world of business would grow, which eventually can support national economic recovery and growth, as well as development programs.
The Regional Anti-Corruption Advocacy Committee is independent, transparent, and voluntary, supervised by the KPK.
At Tuesday's event, Director of Anti-Corruption for Business Entities (AKBU) of the KPK, Aminudin, expressed optimism that Jakarta would become a center for eradicating corruption, especially in the private sector or businesses.
The KPK also called for the participation of business players in the corruption eradication movement.
"Increasing collaboration with the world of business is expected to create a healthy, clean, and corruption-free business climate," he remarked.
The management of the committee comprises elements from the Jakarta Provincial Government, the Jakarta Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin), academics, and non-governmental organizations.
