Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia’s G20 Presidency has provided lessons in strong leadership, especially as demonstrated by President Joko Widodo, according to Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Financial Services Authority (OJK) Mahendra Siregar.

"Organizing the G20 can be a reflection and lesson learned for us to implement the strong leadership spirit shown by the President (Widodo) and the Indonesian Presidency itself," he remarked at an Infobank event entitled “Top 100 CEOs and the Next Leader Forum 2022” here on Wednesday.

Indonesia's G20 Presidency demonstrated a strong leadership spirit as it was able to unite diverse member countries that have the greatest economic and political power in the world, he said.

He described the harmony maintained during the G20 events in Bali as an extraordinary achievement given the threats of a boycott at the beginning of 2022.

The increasingly heated war in Ukraine and rising geopolitical pressures also posed a challenge for Indonesia's G20 Presidency.

Nevertheless, the Indonesian G20 Presidency proved its mettle by producing a Leaders' Declaration, whose release was once held in doubt by various parties.

In addition, many bilateral meetings between G20 countries were also held during the Indonesian G20 Presidency, making it a historic event.

Further, The Economist magazine specifically lauded Indonesia’s organization of G20 events and dubbed the nation as one of the “bright stars of Asia,” besides India.

The magazine further said that it could even alter the global balance of power and that the international community hopes and is ready for Indonesia to play an important role at the global level.
