Weak volatile food inflation pressure stemmed an increase in our annual inflation.
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia’s consumer price index (IHK) inflation in November 2022 slid to 5.42 percent year-on-year (yoy) from 5.71 percent, Statistics Indonesia (BPS) reported on Thursday.

"Weak volatile food inflation pressure stemmed an increase in our annual inflation," Deputy for Distribution and Services Statistics at BPS, Setianto, informed during the “November 2022 Consumer Price Index Release,” which was accessed online from Jakarta on Thursday.

Weak annual inflation was recorded in the 90 districts and cities surveyed for the IHK, he said.

Volatile food prices recorded an inflation of 5.7 percent yoy in November compared to 7.19 percent the previous month due to a decline in the prices of several food commodities. Volatile food inflation contributed 0.95 percent to the IHK inflation.

Administered prices also slid to 13.01 percent from 13.28 percent, contributing 2.3 percent to the IHK inflation.

According to Setianto, the administered price inflation was fueled by an increase in gasoline prices, household fuel prices, city transport fares, and flight ticket prices over the past year.

Meanwhile, core inflation remained under control at 3.30 percent yoy in November, dipping slightly from 3.31 percent the previous month and contributing 2.17 percent to the IHK inflation.

Cumulatively, the annual IHK inflation in November was fueled by gasoline, household fuel, city transport fares, flight tickets, cigarettes, and purebred chicken eggs.

"If classified, transportation recorded the highest inflation of 15.45 percent yoy, which contributed 1.86 percent (to the IHK inflation), followed by foods, beverages, and tobacco, which saw an inflation of 5.87 percent yoy and contributed 1.5 percent (to the IHK inflation)," he informed.

The highest inflation of 9.2 percent yoy was recorded in Tanjung Selor, North Kalimantan, and the lowest inflation of 3.26 percent was recorded in Ternate, North Maluku.
