The first component is mastery of science and technology and improvement of technical skills that are relevant to the timesJakarta (ANTARA) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) appealed to teachers to ensure that their students mastered science and technology that continued to grow and possess technical skills in order to create superior human resources.
"The superior human resources that you produce have several components. The first component is mastery of science and technology and improvement of technical skills that are relevant to the times," Jokowi noted in his remarks at the 77th Anniversary of PGRI and National Teacher's Day in Semarang, Central Java, on Saturday.
He said that the government had given freedom in teaching, as the times were changing swiftly.

"We just learned the next day, another one came out, another one has changed. Hence, the teacher must always update the information,“ he remarked.
The president believes that the most important process in teaching today is how the process can make students possess good critical abilities, so that teaching flexibility is not rigid.
He pointed out that numerous changes were rolling swiftly in terms of science and technology.
“(It is) because science is developing very fast. We sometimes have artificial intelligence, we have to learn what is this stuff? New items appear, big data, especially this item, what is it used for?" he stated.
"The internet of things will appear, new items will appear every day. We just learn crypto currency, tomorrow crypto assets appear, what is this? This is what we need to continue to be updated because today's developments are changing, and the changes are very fast," he explained.

The president reminded teachers to not give outdated knowledge in the midst of fast-paced developments in science and technology.
"Do not let knowledge to be outdated," he stressed.
In addition to the component of gaining mastery in science and technology, the president drew attention to other components -- mentality, character, and physical health -- that could create superior human resources.
Jokowi accentuated that every student should comprehensively possess mastery of science and technology, mentality, and character as well as physical health.
