We do sympathize with the quake victims in Cianjur District. As a farmer, we want to donate the pineapplesKarawang, W Java (ANTARA) - A pineapple farmer from Subang District, West Java Province, donated two tons of fresh pineapples to Cianjur District's residents that were severely suffering from the impacts of the recent deadly earthquake.
"We do sympathize with the quake victims in Cianjur District. As a farmer, we want to donate the pineapples. That is what we can do," Efrizal Ali noted in a statement, Monday.

Ali is one of Subang District's local farmers, who join state-owned fertilizer manufacturer PT Pupuk Kujang's empowerment program.
According to Ali, the donated pineapples were distributed to those in need in the disaster zone through Pupuk Kujang's command post in Benjot Village, Cugenang Sub-district, and Muhammadiyah's voluntary charity agency.
Ali said the quake victims, currently taking refuge at several temporary shelters, were expected to benefit nutritionally from the pineapples.
In Benjot Village, some 342 residents are being sheltered at a temporary shelter set up by state-owned fertilizer holding firm PT Pupuk Indonesia, he added.
Sympathy with the Cianjur quake victims is also shown by Andalas University (Unand), a leading public university in West Sumatra Province.
The university, on Sunday, dispatched six members of its nursing faculty to join a humanitarian mission in Cianjur District.

They would provide healthcare service to the district's earthquake survivors from December 4 to December 10, according to Unand Rector Prof. Yuliandri.
A 5.6-magnitude earthquake had jolted Cianjur District in West Java Province on November 21 at 1:21 p.m. local time, killing at least 318 people and injuring 7,729 others.
The quake, whose epicenter was located about 10 km away from Cianjur, at a depth of 10 km, also damaged at least 2,345 houses and forced 73,693 residents to take refuge.
Despite the absence of a tsunami, the quake's tremors were not only felt by residents in disaster zones but also by those in the areas of Jakarta, Bogor, and Bekasi, according to the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG).
According to the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB), some 595 of the 7,729 residents sustaining injuries ailed from serious injuries.
