To support the digital transformation in Indonesia, the government is implementing several programs for digital talent development
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The government is working to optimize the nation’s digital economy potential through various human resource (HR) development programs that are aimed at creating excellent and competitive human resources.

According to secretary of the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs, Susiwijono Moegiarso, the programs include Siber Kreasi, Digital Talent Scholarship, Digital Leadership Academy, and Pre-Employment Card programs.

"To support the digital transformation in Indonesia, the government is implementing several programs for digital talent development," he said at the “National Peer Learning Meeting 2022” here on Monday.

The government is also encouraging vocational education and training policies to accelerate HR investment in a bid to meet the demand for competencies, in accordance with the global trend of development.

These efforts are being made because the government has set the target of creating 9 million digital talents by 2030, Moegiarso said.

Moreover, Indonesia's digital economy is projected to become the largest in ASEAN with a value of around US$146 billion by 2025.

Apart from optimizing the potential of the digital economy, the preparation of excellent human resources is expected to support the nation in facing the challenges presented by the current industrial revolution era.

Improving literacy in an inclusive manner is one of the steps taken by the government to boost people's ability to seize opportunities in the 5.0 industrial revolution era.

In this regard, the social-inclusion-based transformation of libraries is expected to increase information literacy in the information and communication technology-based society.

It is also expected to improve the quality of life, welfare, and creativity of the community, as well as reduce the gap in access to information.

The availability of digital infrastructure—as the essential enabler in the improvement of digital literacy—has also become a part of the government's development focus.

The construction of digital connectivity facilities and infrastructure, starting from base transceiver stations (BTS), fiber optic networks and data centers, and multifunctional satellites, to plans of utilizing low orbital satellites, is also being carried out.

"This is to ensure the availability of adequate digital infrastructure," he said.
