Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK) handed over compensation worth Rp15 million to the family of a police officer, who fell victim to a suicide bombing attack on Wednesday morning.

"The LPSK handed over compensation to the family of the deceased First Adjunct Inspector Agus Sofyan that was received directly by his wife," Deputy Chairperson of LPSK Edwin Partogi Pasaribu stated through a message received here on Wednesday.

He gave the compensation to the victim's family at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Immanuel Hospital, Bandung City, West Java Province.

Citing recent data obtained by the LPSK, Pasaribu remarked that one police personnel died due to the suicide bombing, while several others were injured.

The LPSK deputy chairperson stated that three injured victims were still being treated at the hospital. Meanwhile, two other victims were allowed to go home.

Pasaribu spoke of having immediately headed to Bandung City to meet the victims after receiving information that a bomb exploded at the Astanaanyar Sectoral Police Office, Bandung City, West Java Province, at 8:20 a.m. local time.

He noted that LPSK's involvement in handling victims of the suicide bombing aligned with the law on terrorism that mandated the government to immediately provide protection to the victims after a terrorism incident occurred.

Chief of the West Java Regional Police Inspector General Suntana noted that 11 people became the victims of the incident.

The suicide bombing injured 10 people, including nine police personnel and one civilian as well as claimed the life of a police officer.

Meanwhile, the perpetrator was confirmed dead at the location.

Chief of National Police General Listyo Sigit Prabowo said that the perpetrator was identified as Agus Sujarno a.k.a. Agus Muslim.

Sujarno was earlier arrested and sentenced to four years in prison for his involvement in the Cicendo bombing in 2017.

The national police chief remarked that Sujarno was affiliated with the terrorist group Jamaah Ansharut Daulah (JAD).
