Jakarta (ANTARA) - Vice President Ma'ruf Amin encouraged the Ministry of Health's health service platform SatuSehat, or One Health, to help realize a digital health ecosystem in Indonesia.

"(We must) develop health digital transformation that is able to provide convenience for the community as well as have a positive impact on the health economy in Indonesia," Amin remarked at the webinar held by the Faculty of Public Health, University of Indonesia, here on Saturday.

SatuSehat is a healthcare platform that integrates patients' medical histories from various health facilities. The integration is seen as the basis for building a solid digital health ecosystem and providing convenience as well as economic value for patients.

At a webinar, titled "Towards System of 'SatuSehat' in Indonesia: Opportunities and Challenges from Public Health Perspectives," Amin stated that advantages of SatuSehat cover the aspects of preventive, promotive, curative, and rehabilitative services.

In terms of curative health services, the vice president assessed that digital health technology should be developed to prevent catastrophic diseases, such as heart disease and cancer, which require long-term and expensive medical care.

"With the help of digital technology, the disease can be detected earlier and immediate treatment can be offered, thereby reducing the burden of medical costs quite significantly," he noted.

However, various challenges still exist in building a digital health ecosystem, such as regulation, human resources, technology, health infrastructure, and data security protection.

"In addition, digital leadership is crucial in formulating policies and initiating digital innovation, as well as coordinating collaboration and cooperation between players in the health sector," the vice president noted.

To this end, he called for all parties to collaborate in finding solutions to various problems in the development of a digital health ecosystem in Indonesia.

"I hope this seminar would result in valuable inputs to accelerate the implementation of health system transformation in the country, especially the digital-based one, to provide convenience and economic (benefits) for all Indonesians," he explained.
