During the new year celebration, people cannot be euphoric since COVID-19 still exists
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture encouraged the public to commemorate the new year by continuing to wear masks and complement their protection with booster vaccination.

The people need to remember that the COVID-19 pandemic still exists, so health protocol implementation and vaccination are still necessary, Health Quality Improvement and Population Development Coordination Deputy at the Ministry Agus Suprapto stated.

"During the new year celebration, people cannot be euphoric since COVID-19 still exists," he told ANTARA here on Wednesday.

In addition, Suprapto reminded the people to continue to implement clean and healthy living behaviors, such as by making it a habit to wash hands with soap and proper method.

"Washing hands with soap is simple. However, it can prevent various diseases, such as diarrhea, typhoid, and various other diseases," he stated.

By strengthening the implementation of health protocols, getting vaccinated, and implementing clean and healthy lifestyle, Suprapto expects that the people can enjoy the new year holiday safely and comfortably.

"What is most important is to not let go of the mask amid the crowd because masks can prevent the spread of COVID-19 and other diseases, such as ISPA and TBC," he noted.

"This should be conveyed over and over again to the people to raise awareness and understanding," he emphasized.

In addition, Suprapto encouraged the people to prevent dengue hemorrhagic fever through the implementation of Draining, Closing and Burying (3M) Plus.

It is especially important for people to implement 3M Plus during the rainy season, he noted.

"To reduce DBD incidents or events, the people should truly be wary of their respective environmental conditions, continue to remember 3M Plus, and maintain cleanliness," he remarked.
