Since the data of voters always changes, (they) need to update the data including in West Kalimantan Province,
Pontianak, W Kalimantan (ANTARA) - Deputy Chief of the House Commission II Syamsurizal has appealed to regional governments and regional general election commissions (KPUs) to reregister voters ahead of the 2024 general elections.

"Since the data of voters always changes, (they) need to update the data, including in West Kalimantan Province," Syamsurizal noted during a working visit here on Saturday.

According to Syamsurizal, updating population data is very important since several voters change their electoral district and had died before the elections. In addition, several citizens, who are currently aged 17 years, and retired police and military members, with the right to vote, have not been registered as voters.

"We still have 14 months out of 20 months prepared for us to hold the elections that constitute a chance for the people's political participation to determine the state leader and representatives at the parliament," he remarked.

Syamsurizal noted that he undertook a working visit to Pontianak to meet the West Kalimantan provincial government to discuss a wide range of issues in the province.

"At the meeting, we discussed a lot of things to find solutions to various problems faced by the state and the nation, particularly in West Kalimantan," he remarked.

During the meeting with West Kalimantan Governor Sutarmadji, Syamsuurizal said they discussed the forest issue that remained unsolved.
