Thus, it is necessary to update the (DP4) data every six months with (the Home Affairs Ministry’s) Directorate General of Population and Civil Registration.
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Home Affairs Ministry handed over the List of Potential Electoral Voters (DP4) living in the country in 38 provinces across Indonesia for the 2024 General Election to the General Elections Commission (KPU).

“Today, the Home Affairs Ministry hands the DP4 for the 2024 General Election to the KPU, with a total of 204,656,053 people, comprising 102,181,591 men and 102,474,462 women,” Deputy Minister of Home Affairs John Wempi Wetipo noted at the KPU office here on Wednesday.

Wetipo remarked that submission of the list aligned with the mandate of Law Number 7 of 2017 on Elections.

The list comes from the population data on the first semester of 2022 that was verified and validated by the ministry through a centralized population administration information system as well as strengthened through the electronic identity card (e-KTP) recording process, he stated.

Thus, the data had also been updated to the recent population events of each citizen, including death and change of domicile, as of December 2022, the deputy minister remarked.

Furthermore, he drew attention to several criteria for people included in DP4, comprising the requirement to be Indonesian citizens (WNI) aged 17 years or above by the election day on February 14, 2024; or married, or have been married before; and are not military or police personnel.

Wetipo expects technical cooperation between his side and the KPU would continue, although the list had been submitted, given the very high population dynamics.

On average, 144,455 death certificates were issued in 2022 per month, while the changes of domicile reached 667,598 cases per month, Wetipo noted.

“In addition, there are changes in the occupational status of (retired) military and police (officers). Thus, it is necessary to update the (DP4) data every six months with (the Home Affairs Ministry’s) Directorate General of Population and Civil Registration,” he stated.

Hence, the DP4 data will always be improved to provide accurate and quality voter data, he remarked.
