Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan (ANTARA) - The South Kalimantan provincial government has provided goods worth Rp700 million for earthquake victims in Cianjur, West Java.

The aid was delivered to the Cianjur Social Office on Friday, the head of social protection and insurance at the South Kalimantan Social Office, Achmadi, informed in a press statement on Saturday.

The aid was donated by all Regional Apparatus heads and Regional Apparatus Work Unit heads, region-owned enterprises (BUMDs), and state civil apparatuses (ASNs) in South Kalimantan between November 22 and December 8, 2022.

"In accordance with the governor's instruction, the collected donation came in the form of goods that the affected victims' need now or during an emergency," he informed.

There are one thousand units of each type of aid, such as one thousand diapers and one thousand mattresses. The aid includes toiletries, kitchen equipment, as well as necessities for infants and elderly people.

He said he expects the aid to alleviate the burden on those who fell a victim to the tragedy that occurred on November 21, 2022, or those who were evacuated because of it.

In addition to the aid, the provincial government also dispatched Disaster Preparedness Cadets.

Meanwhile, the head of Cianjur Social Protection and Insurance, Hero Laksono, expressed his gratitude to the Governor of South Kalimantan, H. Sahbirin Noor, for the aid.

He also promised to immediately distribute the aid so that it can be channeled quickly and accurately.

"Alhamdulillah (Praise be to God), we thank you for the aid from donors, to South Kalimantan provincial government specifically," Laksono said.

The 5.6-magnitude earthquake that struck Cianjur has claimed the lives of 602 people so far. Meanwhile, the government is still searching for 8 others who went missing in the quake.
