Surabaya (ANTARA) - Pastor Cornelius Triwidya Tjahja Utama who leads
the Hati Kudus Jesus Church in Surabaya, East Java, said Christmas 2022 was a momentum for Christians to contribute more to social life.

"We are reminded that we are part of society so we need to make a good contribution," said the man who is familiarly called Father Tomi here on Saturday.

He said he was very happy to welcome a visit of the East Java Regional Leadership Communication Forum's (Forkopimda's) representatives to ensure safety during the Christmas celebrations.

"We are very happy that the governor took the time to visit us. Therefore, we ask Christians to be present in people's lives," he said.

He said he was ready to carry out the Christmas service thanks to security provided by police, army, Banser community organization, and several other elements of society.

"We are very ready to carry out Mass, especially assisted by the police, army, banser and all elements. So far, the celebrations of Christmas Day have always been running smoothly," he said.

Father Tomi said there were two Christmas Masses being held at his church tonight. While the next day, there were five services.

"This evening, there are two, including Mass at 18.00 and 21.00. While tomorrow there will be five services, starting at 06.00 then at 08.00, at 10.00, then at 16.30 and at 18.30 (local time)," he said.

"As many as 3,500 congregants will attend Mass on the night," he added.
