The IDTH serves as a facility for ensuring the security and safety of telecommunication device users in Indonesia, conducting standardization on exported and imported devices, and also ensuring interoperability and interference protection for devicesDepok, West Java (ANTARA) -
The newly launched Indonesia Digital Testing House (IDTH) stands as the largest of its kind in the Southeast Asian region, according to Communication and Informatics Minister Budi Arie Setiadi.
Setiadi noted that the IDTH constitutes the enhanced version of the Telecommunication Device Testing Center (BBPPT) managed by the Communication and Informatics Ministry and is equipped with advanced international-level facilities.
"The IDTH is powered with international-class advanced facilities instrumental for testing aspects of digital device, such as telecommunication features, radio frequency, electromagnetic compatibility, electrical safety, and specific absorption rate," he remarked during the IDTH inauguration in Depok, West Java, on Tuesday.
The minister elaborated that the IDTH serves as a facility for ensuring the security and safety of telecommunication device users in Indonesia, conducting standardization on exported and imported devices, and also ensuring interoperability and interference protection for devices.
He further remarked that the IDTH currently wields the capacity to test much more devices than it did under the name of BBPPT. The facility can test laptops, smartphones, bluetooth, access points, digital televisions, handy talkies, and radars.
"In 2023, this facility tested 644 features. Its development allows us to project around 1,600 features to be tested by the IDTH this year and up to five thousand features annually in 2025 and 2026," he highlighted.
On the same occasion, President Joko Widodo regarded the IDTH, whose development cost Rp980 billion (around US$61 million,) as the most prominent digital device certification center in the region.
"It is not surprising that this facility is equipped with super advanced equipment, as it consumes a huge budget. I am aware that testing devices is of critical importance. All digital devices can be tested here," he remarked.
